Canouan featured in sports Illustrated

Raffles Resort located on Canouan is the featured location on the cover of the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. According to this country’s USA and Canada PR and Advertising agency Spring O’Brien and Co. Inc. ‘this is a wonderful exposure for SVG’. The agency states that the cover of the magazine was unveiled by the late night talk show host David letterman last night (February 10th 2009), when he pulled the curtain on a new billboard in Times Square; bringing more attention to the magazine and by extension St. Vincent and the Grenadines. According to Spring O’Brien, ‘the highly anticipated swimsuit issue reaches 66 million readers and it also has a worldwide audience with 26 international editions’.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority SVGTA) is the national agency entrusted with the responsibility of promoting the country as a tourist destination, developing standards and regulating the quality of the local tourism service providers. Raffles Resort Canouan Island lands on cover as backdrop for model Bar Refaeli in 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue

Inside the magazine, a multi-page spread highlights top models sporting the latest high fashion swimwear shot around the island resort by renowned photographer, Raphael Mazzucco.

 

Five of Sports Illustrated’s top models traveled to Canouan Island including Bar Refaeli, Brooklyn Decker, Jessica White, Jarah Mariano and Hilary Rhoda. Raffles Canouan provided an idyllic setting for Raphael Mazzucco, as the cover shot of Bar Refaeli was taken on the beach. Gilbert Madhavan, general manager for Raffles Canouan stated, “We are thrilled that the influential and expert names in the Sports Illustrated organization selected Raffles Canouan for the cover location of the issue.” In addition to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit shoot, famous sports radio and television personality Dan Patrick also took his XM satellite program, The Dan Patrick Show, on the road and broadcasted live from Raffles’ Jambu’s Bar. During the sports talk show, Patrick conducted a live interview with model, Brooklyn Decker – who also phoned in her fiancé, tennis pro Andy Roddick, during an impromptu moment.
