The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines acting on the advice of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) has approved the introduction of Postcodes for all existing postal addresses in the State. The UPU is in the process of advising all member Postal Administrations of this event which would be full implemented by September 2009.

A new tourism website is currently being developed. The new website is www.discoversvg.com and is scheduled for completion in 2009.

The St. Vincent & the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) participated in the 6th annual Re-DISCOVER the Caribbean show, in Barbados on April 24th – 25th 2009. Participation in this promotional activity was a joint venture spearheaded by the National Investment Promotion Inc., (NIPI) with key stakeholders in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, in an effort to continue the promotion of investment opportunities, destination marketing, and capacity development.

During 2009 the St. Vincent & the Grenadines Tourism Authority proposes to participate in the following tourism trade shows and conferences.

The 2009 Vincy Homecoming Reunion is being celebrated under the theme "As one people in many lands, we shape our nation with many hands."

The lookout at Belmont, which offers a panoramic view of the Mesopotamia valley, was officially opened last Thursday, April 23. It is the first of fourteen sites to be completed under the Tourism Development Project.

Raffles Resort located on Canouan is the featured location on the cover of the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. According to this country’s USA and Canada PR and Advertising agency Spring O’Brien and Co. Inc. ‘this is a wonderful exposure for SVG’. The agency states that the cover of the magazine was unveiled by the late night talk show host David letterman last night (February 10th 2009), when he pulled the curtain on a new billboard in Times Square; bringing more attention to the magazine and by extension St. Vincent and the Grenadines. According to Spring O’Brien, ‘the highly anticipated swimsuit issue reaches 66 million readers and it also has a worldwide audience with 26 international editions’.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be showcased to the Canadian public in the upcoming months as a result of two recent visits. The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) through its Toronto Tourist Office hosted a four-member team from the Shopping Channel as well as a representative from the SVGTA’s PR and Advertising Agency during the period January 25th -30th for a production shoot.
